What is The Honor Network?
The Honor Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the nation’s fallen law enforcement officers, military service members, firefighters, and EMS personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Through the movement of the United States Honor Flag, the organization pays tribute to America’s heroes while supporting their families, preserving their legacy, and educating the public on the importance of their service and sacrifice.
Born from the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the United States Honor Flag began with a promise that America would never forget the heroes lost that day. Since then, the flag has become one of the most recognized symbols of remembrance and patriotism in the country.
The United States Honor Flag flew over Ground Zero following the attacks of 9/11, traveled to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, flew aboard the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Atlantis, and has attended thousands of military and first responder funerals across the nation. The flag has also completed a memorial tap on every headstone at Iwo Jima in tribute to the heroes who fought for our freedom. Since its creation, the Honor Flag has traveled more than 7 million miles by ground, air, and even space — carrying the stories, sacrifices, and spirit of America’s heroes across the nation, around the world, and even into space.
Powered entirely by volunteers, The Honor Network operates with a singular mission: to ensure the flag never stops moving — to honor, educate, and inspire. No one involved receives compensation. Every mile traveled, ceremony attended, and tribute performed is made possible through selfless dedication, patriotism, and service.
The organization is completely funded through donations from supporters, patriots, and Americans who love the extraordinary country we call home and believe in honoring those who gave everything in service to it.
Through partnerships established across the country, The Honor Network has helped ensure that line-of-duty funeral services for fallen military personnel and first responders can be provided at no cost to the families. The organization also works to educate communities, honor surviving families, and preserve the memory and sacrifice of America’s heroes.
In a time when there is a growing attack on our nation, its values, and even the American flag itself, the United States Honor Flag continues moving across the country as a symbol of unity, sacrifice, and patriotism. Its mission is to help instill the patriotic values of past generations into the current generation of young Americans so those values, traditions, and respect for service may continue for many generations to come. As Winston Churchill once said, “A nation that forgets its past has no future.” The Honor Network exists to ensure America never forgets.
